4 CPBL Alumni Selected in 2024 MLB Draft

4 CPBL have been selected in the 2024 MLB Draft, marking the latest in a long line of CPBL players who have been given the opportunity to compete at the highest level.  

The CPBL alumni are highlighted by current Major Leaguers, Bo Naylor (Guardians-Ontario Blue Jays 2018), Tyler Black (Brewers-Toronto Mets 2018) and Zach Pop (Blue Jays-Ontario Blue Jays 2014)

The following players have been drafted in 2024;

  • Emilien Pitre IF - Fieldhouse Pirates -2nd Round Tampa Bay Rays (pictured)
  • L.P. Langevin RHP - Academie du Baseball Canada -4th Round Kansas City Royals
  • Ryan Magdic LHP -Ontario Royals -14th Round Oakland Athletics 
  • Brendan Lawson -Ontario Blue Jays -19th Round St. Louis Cardinals 

In addition, 2 players have signed free agent contracts.

  • Owen Gregg IF -Fieldhouse Pirates -Free Agent Toronto Blue Jays 
  • Francesco Barbieri OF -Fieldhouse Pirates -Free Agent Washington Nationals

Since the inception of the CPBL in 2016, 68 CPBL Alumni have been given the opportunity to play professional baseball via the amateur draft or free agent contracts.
