CPBL Prospect Games Partnership with
Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy Canadian Futures Showcase
Following a very successful first year of partnership between the Toronto Blue Jays Academy and the CPBL in 2024, the two parties are excited to announce our partnership will extend into 2025 and year two. In year one, this partnership saw our players have the opportunity to try-out out for two of the most prestigious events in the country in one place at one time. This coming spring, players will have the opportunity to again, try-out for the the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy Canadian Futures Showcase in addition to the CPBL Prospects Game, all in one tryout. Similar to last year, players will be evaluated for the CPBL Prospects Game by a committee comprised of CPBL executives, MLB Scouts, CPBL Organizational, while the Toronto Blue Jays Scouting department will be on hand to evaluate for their Futures Showcase. Prior to the 2024 season, CPBL players were asked to attend separate tryouts at different dates/times/locations. This partnership has helped streamline this process and create a cost savings for families and also maximize the exposure our players have to more scouts and recruiters.
*Please note our 14U Minor and 14U Major players will have the option to be evaluated by the Toronto Blue Jays scouting staff for their event at additional cost. The 15U-18U players, this will be included in their registration fee.
Who
CPBL players in the 14U Minor-18U divisions are eligible to participate in their respective groups ‘Prospect Game’ if they sign up and go through the tryout process. Players that are graduating from their program and attending college in the fall of 2025 are NOT eligible.
The selection process for all players who sign up includes a pro style workout day focused on assessing each player's physical attributes. Players will then be followed throughout the CPBL league play to access game play and to allow for players to fairly showcase their ability and grow their game.
The committee included in the selection process is comprised of CPBL executives, MLB Scouts, CPBL Organizational Leaders and the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy.
As part of our partnership with Perfect Game, they will attend the entire Prospects Weekend to scout, provide social media coverage and help select the Canadian Premier Teams.
What
The CPBL Prospect Games bring together the top players from the league, divided into five categories. For our 2025 event, the game categories will be as follows:
2026 Grad Class (Largely 17U players and returning 18U players)
2027 Grad Class (Largely 16U players)
2028 Grad Class (Largely 15U players)
14U Major
14U Minor
Each game will be preceded by a MLB style scout day that will include 60yrd runs, full infield/outfield and batting practice. The game structure is designed to allow pitchers a fair opportunity to showcase themselves so each pitcher will throw approximately 20 pitches. The length of the games typically allow for position players to get 3 or more at bats.
When
The CPBL Prospects Weekend will be August 1st-3rd. The tryout dates for each individual group are as follows:
May 6th - 14U Major & 2028 Grads (Royal Field - Dorchester)
May 7th - 14U Minor (Royal Field - Dorchester)

Where
All games will be played at the same venue, Royal Field in Dorchester, Ontario. Royal Field is a state of the art, fully turfed stadium with seating capacity for 400 people that provides players with an atmosphere similar to D1 baseball.
Try-Outs will be held at Royal Field (3245 Hamilton Rd. Dorchester) and Gary Carter Stadium (10555 Rue Lajeunesse. Montréal, QC H3L 2E5)
Why
CPBL member programs are designed to develop aspiring student athletes in order to get them to the next level, whether it be college or professional baseball. A necessary part of that process is exposure to the scouting community. With the continued growth of the CPBL’s talent, it is our goal to provide exposure for our players on Canadian soil.

Canadian Premier Teams
The CPBL offers two league ‘All Star’ teams that play under the Canadian Premier (2026 Class) and Canadian Premier Underclass (2027 Class) banners. These teams are brought together through a three step process that include: CPBL Prospect Game tryouts, CPBL League play and the Prospects Weekend. Evaluators from around the CPBL, MLB Scouts, the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy and our partners at Perfect Game work together to assemble the rosters. Both Premier teams play a week-long fall schedule that includes a series of exhibition games against US Colleges/Travel Programs/Federations before beginning the PG WWBA Tournaments at each respective age division.
The Canadian Premier Team enters the PG WWBA Tournament (Jupiter, FL), commonly known as Jupiter, with the purpose of competing against the best HS competition in the world in front of a large contingency of MLB scouts, executives as well as college coaches.
The Canadian Premier Underclass enters the PG WWBA Underclass Tournament (Ft. Myers, FL) also with the purpose of competing against the best HS competition in front of college recruiters.
New in March of this year and moving forward, the CPBL will form one combined Canadian Premier Team that will feature the top Draft prospects as recommended by the MLB Scouting community. This group will play an 8 game exhibition schedule based in Phoenix, AZ against MILB Spring Training teams and the Langley Blaze in front of a large number of MLB Scouts, executives and college coaches.
